==INTRO==
Guadalupe NP has been on my bucket list for a while, and I'm sure it is the same for most of our members on here as well. The recent survey indicates a lot of people are interested in this trip as well.
==ACTIVITIES==
- Camping
- Hiking/Backpacking
==PERMITS/RESERVATIONS==
- Since this is a backpacking trip, a free Backcountry Use Permit must be obtained. No online reservation yet. We have to obtain this in person at their office once we get there.
- More information about permit here: https://www.nps.gov/gumo/planyourvisit/permitsandreservations.htm
==HIKING/BACKPACKING==
- There are 4 majors trail at Guadalupe NP. Those are: Devil's Hall Trail, Smith Spring Loop, McKittrick Canyon Trail, Guadalupe Peak Trail.
- We plan to tackle all of these trails as much as we can. But the Guadalupe Peak Trail is definitely a must since this is why most people come here.
==BRING==
- While sharing is encouraged, you are only required to bring what you need for yourself (camping equip., IE: chair, food, camp stove, tent, etc) as others may not bring excess provisions. If you would like to bring community foods for everyone, this is quite welcome.
- Weather is still a bit chilly, so pack WARM just in case :-)!
- Currently, campfire is NOT permitted, so bring containerized cooking equipment.
- This park doesn't look like hammock friendly because there's not a lot of growth tree. So tent would be best. (But can I get an amen for hammock though?)
==WHERE==
- First, we will meetup somewhere in Dallas as a group before heading out so everyone can have a chance to introduce each other and figure out carpool situation (carpooling is highly encouraged because of environment, gas, road trip shenanigans...)
- When we get there, we will meet up again at one of the offices at the park so we can start hiking in TOGETHER. I will post the address here once I figured that out.
==MAPS and STUFF==
- Park map, area map, and road map: https://www.nps.gov/gumo/planyourvisit/maps.htm
- Weather: https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/salt-flat-tx/79847/weather-forecast/351145
DID I MISS ANYTHING? Let me know below!
- Carpooling is encouraged! Also I can fit 2-3 people in my car *
