Changes to the Fox Cities Backpackers Meetup

Hello everyone!

We'll be going over a lot of this at tonight's meeting but I wanted to take a few minutes to outline some recent changes to the group, particularly for those who will not be able to attend tonight.

Will Morrison, our founder and fearless leader has stepped down as the meetup Organizer and I've taken over the Organizer position. From now on, the Organizer position will be elected. Elections will be held at our December club meeting beginning next year, Dec 2012. 

We've opened a bank account and paypal account for the Meetup. This will make accounting of club finances and taking payments online for events easier.

Monthly meetings will have a new location and format. We'll be meeting at the Stone Cellar Restaurant and BrewPub. We'll begin with a few minutes of club business and announcements, then have a brief presentation or discussion on a pre-selected topic, followed by a social. This month, the topic is all these changes! Each monthly meeting topic will be posted with the event. 

We've formalized many club policies and procedures and posted them in a document on the site. I HIGHLY recommend that you all read this document!! 

Included in that document is a policy on removing inactive members. If you have not visited the meetup site in the past year or have not attended an event (any event counts, not just trips) in the last two years, then you will be removed from membership. This will help pare down membership to just those who are active and make managing other aspects of the meetup easier for the organizers. So, if you've received this email, haven't been to the site in a while, but wish to remain a member, please visit the our meetup homepage and that will prevent you from being removed.  

I also encourage everyone to re-read the Meetup Terms of Service, particularly Section 6. Thanks.
