- This is a gorgeous trail! I do it every year. The waterfalls are incredible, the Yosemite of Northern California without the crowds. There are two Palisades Creek trailheads and they are very different, so be sure you click on this link: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/palisades-creek-trail--2
- We will backpack to beautiful Long Lake, which is one mile, on May 23rd so we can get an early start to go to the river 6 miles on May 24th. We will camp there on the 24th, enjoy the river, and, then, camp at the big waterfall on the 25th. This is a mile from the river and we'll backpack to our trailhead 6 miles on the 26th. Our total elevation gain is about 2,600. The total distance is 14 miles. (AllTrails is wrong when it says 12.6 miles.)
- It will be a slow, "picture taking" pace. You must agree to go slow and stay with the group.
