Ohlone Wilderness Trail

About:
Let’s get out and hike the Ohlone Wilderness Trail starting at the Mission Peak Trailhead and ending at Lake Del Valle. This is a physically demanding 3 days / 2 nights trip, approximately 28-miles, with over 6000’ of elevation gain. The trail will take us up Mission Peak, into the Sunol Regional Wilderness and into the Ohlone Regional Wilderness Area.
Itinerary:
Day #1
Route: Mission Peak Trailhead to Sunol Backpack Camp
Distance: ~11.5 miles
Elevation gain: ~3,000
Day #2
Route: Sunol Backpack Camp to Stewart’s Backpack Camp
Distance: ~9.4 miles
Elevation gain: ~2,500
Day #3
Route: Stewart’s Backpack Camp to Lake Del Valle
Distance: ~7.0 miles
Elevation: Not much...
Abilities:
You need to be an experienced backpacker and be able to maintain a pace of 2.5 MPH with a full pack on flat ground to join this trip. (What you were able to do when you were 18 and 20 lbs lighter is not relevant.)
Logistics:
We will leave a car (or two) at the end of Del Valle Rd. and drive to the Mission Peak Trailhead. Upon completion of the trip, we drive back to the Mission Peak Trailhead to retrieve the shuttle vehicle. This means that we will need 2 or 4 cars for this trip.
Fees:
$10 for camping permit.

- COST: There is a $100 deposit for this trip. You will get a $90 refund if you make the trip. If I cancel the trip for any reason, you will get the refund.
- RSVP'ing does not guarantee participation, payment does (after phone conversation).

- I (Daniel Shefer) reserve the sole right to modify the trip itinerary as I deem necessary at any time.
- Bear canisters are not required on this trail. No pets allowed.
