Bad Indian is a darkly funny and emotionally raw solo show written and performed by Saaj Raja. Blending storytelling, movement, humour, and sharp social observation, it follows one man’s journey from suburban Britain to the trading floors of Hong Kong as he struggles to reconcile cultural expectations with his own identity.

Raised to be the success story everyone wanted, Saaj chose double lives instead: forbidden loves, the wrong dreams, and a talent for talking his way into rooms he had no business being in. Through a series of hilarious, heartfelt, and deeply personal encounters, he explores ambition, masculinity, family, migration, and the complicated realities of growing up between cultures.

Part memoir, part performance, Bad Indian is an intimate, thought-provoking exploration of belonging, asking what happens when you stop being who everyone expects—and start becoming who you really are.
