BAD WORKSHOP: Setting Anti-Goals w/ Claire Gallagher

Details

Quick question: Did you get what you wanted from 2022?

Or did your goals for the year get dropped like a hot spud somewhere along the way?

If you did ditch your goals... Could you say why?

To be honest the whole *goal-setting* thing can feel a bit nauseating. The hype of setting targets and hustling your buns off followed by shame and disappointment when it didn't go according to plan. Gross.

One thing’s for sure though: If you want to see specific results in terms of visibility and income you have to align your thoughts and your actions. For real. And in a way that lasts for 12 months and beyond.

Perhaps this sounds familiar...

  • You started last year with a cozy goal-setting journal. Mapped it all out. Felt unstoppable for a couple of weeks.
  • Then life happened and you had to delay some steps in your plan. Dang, it.
  • Then some of the things you needed to do were uncomfortable, or tricky**,** or expensive, so you skipped them.

Next thing you know, your goals seem sooooo far away that even thinking of them makes you feel like a fool for ever believing they were possible.

And yet… you're ready to repeat the process thinking "THIS time it'll be different!"

Let's break that pattern, shall we?

Huge shoutout to MOB Bailén Co-working. They've been very generous by allowing us to use their space for our meetups. We consider it a second home and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them as the best co-working space in Barcelona.

A little background on your workshop leader:

Claire 🇮🇪 is a designer, strategist, and Irish ex-pat living in Spain. Her approach to digital marketing strategy is to do less, but better. She helps clients focus on the actions that will resonate most with their audience. Outside of marketing work, Claire loves to spend time with her family, skim stones, and shop for inky pens.

A little background on the organizers:

Bart 🇳🇱 is a front-end developer turned designer (we call him a unicorn for a reason) whose range of experience makes him a great person to seek advice from. He’s co-founded an agency, led design teams at start-ups, and freelanced for clients from around the world. Most recently, he’s been working as a senior product designer at a startup called Event Cadence. Outside of design Bart loves to hike, cycle, and do yoga.

Adam 🇺🇸 is a seasoned generalist, having spent most of his career at small startups. He’s designed digital products, managed projects, led cross-functional teams, and obsessed over processes big and small. At the moment, he’s the director of design at UX Cabin, a digital product design studio, and a startup mentor at MassChallenge. Outside of design Adam loves records, stand up comedy, and reality TV.

Dario 🇮🇹 sets the bar for any of you aspiring freelancers. He was an early adopter of Webflow and has been shortlisted as one of their top designers to hire. Although his focus these days is web and digital product design, he’s also a very talented brand designer, illustrator, and animator. It’s safe to say that he makes us pretty jealous. Outside of design Dario loves to climb, travel, and cook.
