On December 2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣6️⃣, a teaser trailer for The Emoji Movie was released on YouTube, generating tens of thousands of 👎s within 24--sorry, 2️⃣4️⃣ hours (compared to a few thousand 👍s). Eventually, this CG animated film would release on July 2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣7️⃣ and receive, despite success with 💸, strong negative reviews (i.e. - the Rotten 🍅s critical consensus for this movie is just "🚫").

8️⃣ years later, do the negative reviews hold ⬆️? Did it truly earn its "accolade" as being the 1️⃣st animated film to win the Golden Raspberry 🏆 for Worst Picture? Could we have missed something powerful from this story about how an unsatisfied 😒, alongside his friends 🤚 and (spoiler 🚨) 👸, travels through a bunch of apps to save a📱from the evils of 😀?
