What we’re about
Bad Art Group is an artist-owned initiative dedicated to bringing people together through creativity and self-expression — no experience required. Focusing on visual arts like drawing and painting, we offer a fresh kind of creative experience for those who want to enjoy the many benefits of art-making without the weight of perfectionism.
I believe creativity has the power to enrich wellbeing and overall quality of life for anyone willing to invite it in. This group is a welcoming space to explore what creativity means for you — free from pressure, judgment, or the need to make a masterpiece.

2026 VISION BOARD WORKSHOP
Saturday, 3rd January 2026 | 9:00am – 11:30am
Studio on Brunswick
1/374 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley, QLD
Start your 2026 feeling whole again.
This vision board workshop is a slow, grounding space to reconnect with what genuinely matters to you - beyond hustle, resolutions, or performative goal-setting.
Rather than focusing on making something impressive, we’ll focus on making something true. Through guided reflection and collage-based art-making, you’ll create a visual anchor for the year ahead — something that helps you remember your values, your needs, and your direction when life inevitably gets noisy.
If art spaces usually leave you feeling tense, self-conscious, or like you’re “doing it wrong,” this workshop is intentionally designed differently. No pressure. No urgency. No artistic skill required.
You’ll create alongside others in a calm, supportive environment, allowing space for real presence and connection as you clarify a vision for a year that supports your wellbeing and growth.
This is your time to intentionally turn the spotlight inward and trust that everything else on your plate can wait.
What to Expect:
- A gentle overview of vision boards and how they work
- Prompted self-reflection time
- Creating your vision board using collage
- All materials and guidance provided
- Coffee, tea, and plenty of biscuits
- No artistic experience needed
You’re welcome to bring along any images or materials you’d like to include, though everything required will be supplied.
Adults only.
This is a paid event.
Spaces are limited to keep the energy grounded and personal.

Please note: the venue is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.
See you on the 3rd of January — I can’t wait to meet you.1 attendee
Social Drawing @ Paper Moon Coffee House
Paper Moon Functions House & Cafe, 257 Annerley Rd, Annerley, AUBad Art Group is all about letting you feel safe to create bad art without the fear of judgement. Sometimes we need to let ourselves make garbage art in order to bypass our perfectionistic tendencies! This group is about combining accessible creativity with socialisation and accountability.
This meetup is specifically for still life and observational drawing practice. All skill levels are welcome of course, you don’t need to have technical skill, just a willingness to try and learn! Paper Moon Coffee House is a beautiful little café with many great spots to set up and do some drawing. I will either bring in a still life to prop up on a table for us all to attempt to draw, or we will just draw the environment around us.
I am a self-taught artist who practices observational drawing often, so where needed I am happy to offer guidance to anyone looking to improve their practice 😊
This is a relaxed and friendly group who try not take things too seriously. Creativity should be fun and it is my mission to bring that experience to people of all skill levels. I believe we are at our best creatively when we feel safe and connected to the people and environment around us, so it is my hope to hold a space that fosters that connection for all walks of life. If you are introverted, a bit
socially anxious, and perhaps haven’t been to a meetup before but LOVE to draw, I encourage you to let this be the meetup you step out of your comfort zone for.
Please support this gorgeous venue by treating yourself to a yummy drink or snack while you are there!
Voluntary Fee
There is a voluntary group attendance fee to help cover the cost of hosting on Meetup. However, if you genuinely cannot afford to donate, that’s okay! Please still come along for free. It matters to me more to me that you benefit from the meetup, especially if you can’t afford to leave the house (I’ve been there). Donation amount is up to you, $2-$5 per session is a good range to aim for. Either bring in person or pay via PayID – 0406 249 920
