Bad Art Group is all about letting you feel safe to create bad art without the fear of judgement. Sometimes we need to let ourselves make garbage art in order to bypass our perfectionistic tendencies! This group is about combining accessible creativity with socialisation and accountability.

This meetup is specifically for still life and observational drawing practice. All skill levels are welcome of course, you don’t need to have technical skill, just a willingness to try and learn! Paper Moon Coffee House is a beautiful little café with many great spots to set up and do some drawing. I will either bring in a still life to prop up on a table for us all to attempt to draw, or we will just draw the environment around us.

I am a self-taught artist who practices observational drawing often, so where needed I am happy to offer guidance to anyone looking to improve their practice 😊

This is a relaxed and friendly group who try not take things too seriously. Creativity should be fun and it is my mission to bring that experience to people of all skill levels. I believe we are at our best creatively when we feel safe and connected to the people and environment around us, so it is my hope to hold a space that fosters that connection for all walks of life. If you are introverted, a bit
socially anxious, and perhaps haven’t been to a meetup before but LOVE to draw, I encourage you to let this be the meetup you step out of your comfort zone for.

Voluntary Fee
There is a voluntary group attendance fee to help cover the cost of hosting on Meetup. However, if you genuinely cannot afford to donate, that’s okay! Please still come along for free. It matters to me more to me that you benefit from the meetup, especially if you can’t afford to leave the house (I’ve been there). Donation amount is up to you, $2-$5 per session is a good range to aim for. Either bring in person or pay via PayID – 0406 249 920

What might a flower from another world look like?

Join the team from Bad Art Group for a playful collage workshop exploring strange botanies and the joy of creative experimentation.
Unlike traditional art workshops that focus on technique or achieving a specific outcome, this experience is designed around exploration, curiosity, and the belief that creativity flourishes when we let go of the pressure to get it right.

Together we'll brainstorm, mind-map, sketch, discuss, and collage our way into imagined alien worlds, discovering unexpected ideas and surprising creations along the way.

At Bad Art Group, we're interested in what happens when we make space for the part of ourselves that's afraid of making "bad art." Through gentle guidance, group discussion, and playful creative exercises, we'll help soften the hard edges that so often accompany the creative process, making room for experimentation, mistakes, laughter, and discovery.

This workshop is facilitated as a shared creative experience rather than a room full of people working in isolation. You'll be encouraged to exchange ideas, spark each other's imaginations, and enjoy the process of creating alongside fellow curious humans.
Whether you're an experienced artist or someone who hasn't picked up scissors in years, you'll be supported every step of the way.

### During the workshop we'll:

• Explore what "alien" means through collaborative mind-mapping and discussion
• Transform abstract ideas into imaginative visual concepts
• Develop thumbnail sketches for strange and wonderful alien flora
• Learn collage techniques for shape, texture, colour, and composition
• Embrace unexpected outcomes and creative surprises
• Connect, laugh, and create alongside a welcoming community

No artistic experience is necessary. All materials are provided.

Come ready to make strange plants, surprising discoveries, and perhaps a few new friends.

Hi everybody! We are hosting a free portrait drawing group on Sunday at The Burrow in West End... all welcome, beginners welcome, just grab some paper and a pencil and rock up. We take it in turns to draw each other. There is no charge, just order a tea, coffee or cocktail to thank our lovely venue. See you there!
