Bluebell Railway + Walk from Kingscote to Sheffield Park - 12.5 miles

Travel by steam train along the scenic Bluebell Railway line on the 10:00am departure from Sheffield Park Station to Kingscote Station in the High Weald AONB. We will walk back along sections of the High Weald Landscape Trail, the Sussex Border Path and the Ouse Valley Way. Pub lunch at The Green Man (http://greenmanhorstedkeynes.co.uk/) in Horsted Keynes (contact leaders in advance to reserve a place) or picnic by the village green.

Free parking at Sheffield Park Station. Buy ticket to Kingscote immediately on arrival and join leaders on platform, prior to the train's departure. Single fare is around £9. The return walk will begin from Kingscote Station, West Sussex at 10:35am.

Cars required. Please post a comment if you are able to offer any members a lift from Brighton, south end of Preston Park for a 9.00am departure at latest, or state an alternative location and the relevant time. NB. Travel expenses are divided equally between the driver and the passengers, with the rate currently being 30p per mile for car sharing arrangements.

We don't ask you to pay to join us on your first three walks. Afterwards, in order to continue walking with our group, you must become a paid-up member of the Ramblers. It is essential to RSVP if you are coming on this walk and have not yet joined the Ramblers (see above) and unRSVP if you are not coming.

Members of the Ramblers can attend any walk regardless of waitlists, but we would encourage you to RSVP. This is to give our volunteer walk leaders an idea of how many are attending and also to keep the numbers manageable.
