Ashdown Forest - Lintons and Hartfield Circular - 10.5 miles

Details

An undulating scenic Autumn walk through the northern area of the Ashdown Forest, including Pooh Sticks Bridge, the memorial to AA Milne, and a section of The High Weald Landscape Trail. Some of the places are featured in the recent film 'Goodbye Christopher Robin'. Choose from pub lunch (contact leaders in advance to reserve a place - click here (https://goo.gl/x9bnYn) for the Anchor Inn's menu), picnic, or tea room (http://www.pooh-country.co.uk/pigletstearoom.php) for refreshments in Hartfield.

Cars required. Please post a comment if you are able to offer any members a lift from Brighton, south end of Preston Park for a latest 9.15am departure, or state an alternative location and the relevant time. Our recommended meeting point near the Rose Garden is shown on this map (http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=530851&y=105812&z=110&sv=530851,105812&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=533&ax=530851&ay=105812&lm=0).

Directions: Heading east along Coleman's Hatch Road from the traffic lights at Wych Cross, the 'Lintons' car park is the next one after 'Broadstone', on the left, close to the top of the hill and opposite the 'Ridge' which has now been closed. Free parking, but spaces in 'Lintons' are limited, and car sharing is advised where possible. The nearest postcode RH18 5JP is a third of a mile south west of the car park.

It usually takes around 45 minutes by car from the Rose Garden to the starting point via the A27/A275 route. Kindly ensure that you allow sufficient time for the journey, especially if 'Lintons' is full on arrival and it is then necessary to instead park in 'Broadstone'. Note that the latter is 8 or 9 minutes away on foot. Leaders will be travelling directly from home.

NB. Travel expenses are divided equally between the driver and the passengers, with the rate currently being 30p per mile for car sharing arrangements.

See our walks programme (http://www.ramblers.org.uk/go-walking/find-a-walk-or-route/walk-detail.aspx?walkID=3935569&preview=y) and the announcement (http://bahr.org.uk/profiles/blogs/reminder-30s-50s-ashdown-forest-lintons-and-hartfield-circular-su?xg_source=activity) on the main BAHR website for more information.

We don't ask you to pay to join us on your first three walks. Afterwards, in order to continue walking with our group, you must become a paid-up member of the Ramblers. Click here (http://www.ramblers.org.uk/get-involved/become-a-member.aspx) to apply. The cost is very reasonable and there are also other benefits. Please then bring your membership card with you.

It is essential to RSVP if you are coming on this walk and have not yet joined the Ramblers (see above) and unRSVP if you are not coming.

Members of the Ramblers can attend any walk regardless of waitlists, but we would encourage you to RSVP. This is to give our volunteer walk leaders an idea of how many are attending and also to keep the numbers manageable.
