Knepp Estate Circular - 8.5 miles

Details

We'll be walking a fairly flat 8.5 miles within the Knepp rewilding project. There are five tree platforms, close to public footpaths, offering panoramas of the surrounding countryside with the possibility of seeing pigs, ponies, deer and cattle roaming free.

Please bring water, snacks and a picnic lunch. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on leads to protect the wildlife.

Cars required.

Meet in the Knepp Castle Estate Walkers' carpark at 10.30am. Parking isn't metered but there is a suggested donation (£5) to help cover their costs. If you're early the cafe and coffee van in the Wilding courtyard (go through the entrance to the shop) may be open, and there are toilets on the side of the shop.

Directions: Northbound on A24, from Washington roundabout, drive 4.8 miles (signpost to Knepp Wilding Kitchen and Shop). There is a sharp left turn off the A24 and the entrance to the car park is approximately 150 metres on the right.

Difficulty: Moderate (https://www.ramblers.org.uk/go-walking-hub/how-know-if-ramblers-walk-right-you)

We don't ask you to pay to join us on your first three walks. Afterwards, in order to continue walking with our group, you must become a paid-up member of the Ramblers. The cost is very reasonable and there are also other benefits. Please then bring your membership card with you. Click for more information: https://www.ramblers.org.uk/membership

***

The Brighton and Hove Group of The Ramblers and its leaders accept no responsibility for any claims arising from the activities of the group. All walk leaders must be fully paid-up members of the Ramblers Association.

All sporting and leisure activities have inherent hazards associated with them and rambling is no exception. In spite of the safety of members being the paramount concern, accidents will occasionally occur. It is important, therefore, that when entering into the activity, each member appreciates that they have a responsibility to identify the hazards and take all reasonable steps to eliminate or minimise the potential for an accident to arise.
