Walking safely in the heat

Details
This is advice from a variety of organisations including the Ramblers Association about walking safely in the heat:-
Make sure you are hydrated before you start and take double the amount of water. 1 litre is a recommended minimum for shorter walks 2-3 litres for day walks.
Sip water regularly - every 20 minutes is recommended- don't wait until you are thirsty.
Put electrolytes like dioralyte to replace salts and minerals lost in sweat or take an electrolyte drink.
Wear light loose clothing. Wicking clothing may also help.
A wide brimmed hat helps to prevent sunburn, but also protects against heat stroke.
Wear and carry sun screen.
A bandana is useful as if you get too hot, it can be soaked in water and put round your neck or head for a quick cool down.
walk more slowly than usual
if you are on a group walk, let the leader know immediately if you feel unwell.
