Beginners Ballroom Dance Classes
Details
Step into a world of timeless elegance with the Waltz—often called the "Granddaddy of all ballroom dances". Perfect for absolute beginners, this class will guide you through the smooth, gliding movements that make dancers appear to float effortlessly across the floor.
What is the Waltz?
- Graceful Motion: The Waltz is a progressive dance that travels around the room in a counter-clockwise direction. It is famous for its romantic "rise and fall" action—a gentle undulating motion that adds a soft, airy character to every step.
- Simple Rhythm: Danced in 3/4 time, the rhythm is as easy as counting "1-2-3". If you can count to three, you can Waltz!
- The Foundation: We begin with the Box Step, a simple six-count pattern that forms the basis of the dance and builds the confidence you need for any social floor.

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. Avoid soft rubber-bottomed shoes, such as sneakers and running shoes (but don't let it keep you from class if that's what you've got!).
