Virtual Speaker Night
Details
Please join our very own Baltimore Black Techie's member, Dylan, in a discussion about Functional Programming
What is functional programming, and why is it awesome?
This talk aims to teach some history, theory, and basics of functional programming. Handling a purely functional language can improve your programming skills, and change how you think about computation.
By the end of this talk you should be able to write a bit of Haskell λ (https://www.haskell.org/).
We'll also briefly look at Rust :crab: (https://www.rust-lang.org/), as a case study of using a functional programming style outside of a purely functional language.
For this talk, we recommend requesting beta for Github CodeSpaces: https://github.com/features/codespaces (it's free!) and coming with an open mind. If you are unable to get the beta, we'll work something out :)
