Wetlands Wildlife Walk & Watch
Details
Longing for the sound of singing frogs? Amazed by osprey and other waterfowl and the animals that inhabit the creeks and marshland of our region? Join us at Marshy Point Nature Center in Middle River!(www.marshypoint.org) A scouting trip had us seeing birds and snakes, hearing frogs and bugs. All in all, if you stick with us for both halves, we should be looking at about 5 miles, but it is a relatively flat 5 miles. NOTE: Some of the trails go through the marshlands, and do have some tricky footing at times, including boards to walk on that may shift and move when you stand on them. Although, even with my massive klutziness, I managed through without getting wet or hurting myself.
We will start with this trail:
Dundee-Saltpeter and White Tail Trail Loop on AllTrails
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/maryland/dundee-saltpeter-and-white-tail-trail-loop?p=-1&sh=c68rvg
If people are tired after that, we will be back at the parking lot.
We will then do this trail:
Vernal Pond Trail and Brinkmans Trail Loop on AllTrails
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/maryland/vernal-pond-trail-and-brinkmans-trail-loop?p=-1&sh=c68rvg
We recommend coming early to stop by the nature center & see the animals, ranging from fish and reptiles to the resident free-roaming duck, Frankie. There are also birds in the aviary, such as three turkeys, two owls, and a partridge in a pear tree. (Just joking on the partridge, but there are a few other birds to check out.)
Hope to see you there!!!
