Moderate Hike Along the Little Gunpowder (5.75 miles, 450 ft)

Let’s take a moderate hike along the Little Gunpowder River! Please bring a positive attitude, water, and a sense of adventure. Guests are welcome, however they must be 18 years of age or older.

Please note, I’ve hiked here many times and I know the trail very well, but I will still check All Trails periodically. If this makes you uncomfortable, please do not come.

Here’s what you can expect:

• Loop & tadpole hike about 5.75 miles total length along the Little Gunpowder River
• Average pace of 2.25-2.5 mph with breaks as needed
• Approximately 2.5 hours of hiking including breaks
• One 10-minute break and shorter breaks throughout
• Moderate with varied terrain (hard-packed dirt, woods, rocks, roots, maybe some mud)
• About 450 feet of elevation gain, mostly at the beginning of the
• Two gorgeous waterfalls and a scenic overlook
• Several moderate stream crossings
• Two road crossings

You will be parking in the lot on Bel Air Road with room for around 20 cars. Parking should not be an issue but please carpool if you can.

What to bring:

• Plenty of water (I recommend at least two liters)
• Snacks
• Hiking boots & poles if you have them
• Any medications / medical supplies you might need (ie epipen, asthma inhaler)
• Dogs are welcome on this hike but they must be well behaved and on lead at all times

We will step off at 9:15AM to give everyone an extra 15 minutes to arrive & get ready. We will not wait past 9:15am. Please be on time.
