Join a PRSP volunteer ranger to take a hike through history.
Guided Hikes at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Explore how the geology of the Patuxent River valley influenced early settlement and community development. Learn about the area’s rich history—from its natural foundations to its colonial and post-colonial past. During guided hikes, we’ll visit historical sites near the Nature Center, including the former Freedmen’s community and Howard Chapel Cemetery.
You will meet the ranger at PRSP Nature Center. I do not know the length of the hike, but I can try to find out. Water or some form of liquid hydration is a must! Long pants / leggings and hiking boots are highly recommended. This event is probably good for kids, but I can double check that as well.
The nature center is open from 10am to 4pm if you wish to check it out.
