Let’s take a moderate 6.7 mile hike at North Point State Park! Please bring a positive attitude, water, and a sense of adventure. North Point State Park was the Bay Shore Amusement Park from 1906 to 1947 and the history of this area is fascinating! We will explore some cool old stuff including the electrical building, the broken ferry pier, the fishing pier, the fountain, and the re-created trolley station. There are also old foundations scattered throughout. I love this place & hopefully you will love it too!

Guests are welcome, however they must be 18 years of age or older.

FYI – there is a $3 per car fee to enter this park on the honor system. More details below.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • A whole lot of mud, if you don’t like mud this is not the hike for you!!
  • Loop & tadpole hike about 6.7 miles total length at North Point State Park
  • Average pace of 2.5-2.75 mph with breaks as needed
  • Approximately 3 hours of hiking including breaks
  • One 15-minute break and shorter breaks every mile or so
  • Moderate with varied terrain (hard-packed dirt, woods, rocks, roots)
  • About 50 feet of elevation gain, this is mostly flat
  • Several easy stream crossings

PARKING – there is a $3 per car fee to enter this park on the honor system. When you take an envelope at the entry booth, place $3 inside, detach the parking pass on the envelope, and leave the money in the big box. You will need to punch out the Sunday square on the pass and hang it on your rearview mirror. If you have a park pass, write the pass # on the envelope, you will still need to display the parking pass on your rearview. If you don’t pay, there’s a good chance you will be ticketed as there is a park ranger on site.

You will park in the first lot, once you pay the fee to enter, make the immediate left into the parking lot. There is plenty of space for lots of cars and a port-a-potty there as well.

What to bring:

  • Plenty of water (I recommend at least one liter)
  • Snacks
  • Hiking boots & poles if you have them
  • Any medications / medical supplies you might need (ie epipen, asthma inhaler)
  • Dogs are welcome on this hike but they must be well behaved and on lead at all times

If you RSVP for this hike but decide not to come, please update your RSVP, otherwise we will be waiting for you.

We will step off at 9:15AM to give everyone an extra 15 minutes to arrive & get ready. We will not wait past 9:15am. Please be on time.

This event will be cross-posted in Mid Atlantic Outdoors and Easy/Moderate Walking/Hiking in MD. Please only RSVP to one group.
