Let’s take an easy 2.1 mile hike along the Northampton Furnace Trail at Loch Raven Reservoir! Please bring a positive attitude, water, and a sense of adventure.

Guests are welcome, however they must be 18 years of age or older.

PLEASE NOTE: the address for this hike is on the closest residential street. Please look at the photos to view a screenshot of Google Maps that will show you where to park.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • A 2.1 mile in-and-out trail with water views at the halfway point
  • Average pace of 2.5 mph with breaks as needed
  • Approximately 1 hour of hiking with one 10-15 minute break at the halfway point
  • We may finish up close to or just past sunset (I will have a head lamp just in case)
  • Moderate with varied terrain (hard-packed dirt, woods, rocks, roots)
  • About 85 feet of elevation gain

Parking: There is parking on Dulaney Valley Road at the trailhead, there is space to pull over for about 12 cars, there is also room to double park a few cars if necessary. The parking area is right across from Chapelwood Lane. I will post screenshots in the photos.

What to bring:

  • Plenty of water (I recommend at least one liter)
  • Snacks
  • Hiking boots & poles if you have them
  • Any medications / medical supplies you might need (ie epipen, asthma inhaler)
  • Dogs are welcome on this hike but they must be well behaved and on lead at all times

If you RSVP for this hike but decide not to come, please update your RSVP, otherwise we will be waiting for you.

We will step off at 5:45PM to give everyone an extra 15 minutes to arrive & get ready. We will not wait past 5:45PM. Please be on time.
