CANCELLED Songwriters Workshop Intensive September 16 meeting

Tonight’s September 16 Songwriters Workshop has been postponed to October 21 due to low enrollment.
The class had too few people sign up in Meetup or otherwise let us know they were committed to the Songwriters Workshop Intensive Reboot. After a discussion with Diana and Brian this morning, we agreed to cancel tonight’s class and to send out a notice to help us better understand the real level of interest in the Reboot.
In the next week or so, please lookout for an announcement through our email list and Meetup. In it we will be sharing the Workshop commitment to you and requesting your commitment to this Reboot effort.

This is the official start of the Songwriter's Workshop Intensive Reboot 2.0

Please read and then commit to join these 6 months of excellent Songwriting Lessons

Here is the new 6 month plan for the REBOOT of the Songwriters Workshop Intensive.

1. Diana Hanson Young is BACK! She will take responsibility for tutorials for six months, which are essentially structured like a six-month lesson plan for Basic Songwriting.
2. Diana and Brian are asking each person who chooses to participate in the reboot to commit to the six months of these FREE lessons. (September through January of 25) -- please commit to come to all the classes and write the song that is part of the assignment: Any performance venue we can rustle up will feature songs that are written for this structure. We are working on ways to record the lessons as a YouTube video and make them available on a private channel if you miss one.
3. Each class will have a 15-30 minute tutorial starting at 6:05 PM. Followed by a 5 minutes for intro, otherwise, (intro at the end to those who are late). Diana will pull up the lessons from the early days and draft a basic songwriting class.
4. Diana will provide material like poems, writings, photographs, scenarios) that all of us can draw from to write our songs that follow the assignment.
5. There will also be in-class writing assignments -- words to snippets of music, and music to snippets of words.
6. During that time we'll get outside guests to come in and critique, as well as present parts of tutorials.
7. Each meetup will have a new tutorial, which will generate a new assignment based on the lesson, and everyone will present their work from the previous assignment. This plan worked really well before and gave everyone structure, plus a reason to write a song using the tutorial material, rather than bringing in independent work to have the group critique. We're basically going back to a learning-based structure.

Q. How do I commit to joining these classes?
A Sign up to join this class on September 16 and agree in the session to your commitment. Repeat signing up for all the other classes through Meetup - all on the third Monday of each through January 2025.
Q What if I have to miss a class?
A. Starting in September we will be recording the Zoom lesson and assignment and then make the recordings available only to those who have committed to the 6 months. (if you can't make September send me a note at BenGarberMusic@gmail.com of your commitment)

Q. Is there a cost?
A No - these lessons and song reviews are all free.

Q What if I missed the August class where the first assignment was given for the "official Launch" session.

Q. When will I get the link to the Zoom session on Monday September 16.
A. I will send the Zoom link out from Meetup's internal email system an hour before the meeting . I am sorry that it will come out so late, but we have found this the best way to prevent Zoom bombers interrupting our sessions.
