Is ChatGPT gonna take your UX job?

Sorry for the clickbait-y title... *wink*

We'll have our next meetup on Feb 15th at 6 pm at Power Plant Live (Fearless HQ) with space provided by our friends at Fearless.

This meetup will start with a half an hour informal socialization/eating.

Following our social time, Boris Volfson will give a short-ish presentation/talk.

Boris will spend some time going over what the hullabaloo is all about. He'll explain some key terms (such as: deep neural nets, transformers, generative models, large language models, NLP, etc...). Next, he'll discuss the strengths and weakness of the current state of the art AI technology and go over some best practices that will help you make educated (and persuasive) decisions about whether it is worthwhile using ML models in your digital creations. Finally, we'll go over some interesting use cases of what is presently being done using tools such as ChatGPT in UX/creative fields. We'll open it up for discussion/questions.

❗Don't be scared❗ The talk is geared at people who have no background in data science or AI. It is meant to be accessible and maybe even engaging.

Talk will be given by Boris Volfson (He/Him). He considers himself UX Generalist (read as: he think everything is interesting and shiny). Over the last 15 years he has specialized in designing interfaces that rely on Natural Language Understanding. He works at Nuance (a Microsoft company) where he splits his time between designing conversational agents, designing mobile apps, and fostering design community. He loves pivot tables and reads /r/dataisbeautiful (but also /r/badUIbattles). Aside from being a nerd, Boris loves espresso, cooking, hiking, and hunting mushrooms. He has a dog named Mishka.

🍲 This time we're do potluck for food. You are welcome to bring some homemade deliciousness (as long as it's easy to share) . We'll supply utensils and plates.

Note: You'll need to provide proof of vaccination per Fearless rules (a BUX volunteer will check photo/card at Fearless entrance).

Parking/event detail: Park at 15 south Frederick St garage (there is a charge...). Take the elevator down to the first floor. Exit the elevator and turn left, follow that hallway all the way to the end. This puts you in the Power Plant Plaza. Turn left and look for the black awning directly next to Rams Head Live. You'll see a large sign inside the doors that says Spark. Security will let you up to the 2nd floor.
