TOPIC: "How to Navigate Healthcare as a Veg'n", by registered dietitian Mark Rifkin.

Under the best of circumstances, the U.S. health care system can be enormously confusing, frustrating and time-consuming. It’s known for its limited effectiveness in preventing chronic disease, restricted access to holistic/alternative providers, and heavy focus on invasive treatments that may make the patient worse, not better. All these issues are compounded for us as veg’ns. However, we CAN make use of the health care system without compromising our values---but we need a strategy. In this informative presentation, Mark Rifkin, MS, RDN, will discuss why total separation from the health care system may be unwise, how we can reconcile its use with veg’n values, and how to find and evaluate health care providers. Be prepared to take notes!

MUSIC: Our special guest will be folksinger, arts integration educator and music teacher Deborah "Spice" Kleinmann. Spice also serves as Chair of
the Sierra Club Greater Baltimore Group, Learn more about Spice at http://www.spicesings.com/listen.html
