Online Board Game Event with The University of Baltimore
Details
Players at all levels of skill and experience are welcome, and we are committed to a fun, safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. It is online over Zoom, so we're not super-limited on space. Feel free to invite friends and relatives.
After hosts give introductions and an overview, we'll play one big group game. Then we'll create breakout rooms for smaller groups, and you'll be free to move around. Two rooms will host games using Jackbox and the rest of the rooms will have folks playing on Board Game Arena. The hosts will be available to help you get started. Games might wrap up as early as 8:30, and the event officially ends at 9, but I'll keep the Zoom open until 10pm for any games that go over.
Both Board Game Arena and Jackbox only require Zoom and a web browser! If you're unfamiliar with Board Game Arena, it's a space where you can play a variety of board games privately over the internet. It's free, and you can make an account here: https://boardgamearena.com The main limitation to a free account is that two people can't play from the same IP address (basically from two computers in the same house). But if you've got multiple people in your house who want to play, they can always join in on Jackbox!
This event is hosted by The University of Baltimore's Simulation and Game Design program and open to folks in and outside of the Ubalt community. We hope to do this regularly every fall! It's a nice way to end the semester and meet new people. We plan to host at least one in-person event in the spring.
