ποΈ The Old Harry Rocks

Details
Information
ποΈ Old Harry Rocks are part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and are managed by the National Trust. The name Old Harry actually refers to the single stack of chalk standing furthest out to sea. Thousands of years ago, Old Harry and The Needles (another chalk rock formation) on the Isle of Wight were linked by a line of chalk hills that eroded away during the last ice age. On a clear day you can see The Needles from Studland Bay. There are a number of theories about where Old Harry got its name. It is reputedly named after either a famous local pirate (Harry Paye) or the devil. The route leading to Old Harry is popular with both walkers and cyclists and is part of the South West Coast Path.
Four miles of beautiful beaches line the sheltered waters of Studland Bay β ideal for beach games, sandcastles, watersports or simply relaxing. From bucket and spade fun to watersports, beach games and blow-away-the-cobwebs walks, Studland is a place for all seasons. The beaches of the Studland peninsula stretch from the boundary of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site at Old Harry Rocks north to Shell Bay, where a chain ferry provides a link to Poole and Bournemouth. South Beach is the smallest and popular with locals. Middle Beach is sheltered by low cliffs, while Knoll Beach, backed by a wilderness of dunes, has wide open spaces and includes a 1km designated naturist area.
