Distributed Tracing in Kafka Event-Driven Architectures with GoFr

Abstract:
Debugging distributed Kafka pipelines often involves hours of grepping logs across services. Distributed tracing solves this by following a request end-to-end with a single ID, but implementation can be complex.

In this technical session, we will explore the essentials of tracing messages across a Kafka pipeline—covering header plumbing, sampling trade-offs, and trace continuity. We will demonstrate a live, end-to-end trace where every hop is visible in order. You will leave with a mental model for tracing asynchronous systems and a working reference pipeline to adapt for your own projects.
