What we’re about
This group aims to bring people together for sharing experiences in bioinformatics. This interdisciplinary area of Bioinformatics indeed require knowledge exchange for its understanding in much better way. New technologies in genomics, particularly Next Generation Sequencing has made a significant impact in the comprehension of hidden genetic code. A Biologist want to know coding, data mining, algorithms etc, while non biologist wants to understand what exactly this domain is. People in life science, IT, bio-statistics , Data science could meet up to bridge the gaps.
Technologies could be discuss:
• Next Generation Sequencing: Assembly, Mapping, Annotation.
• Working on R Statistical Platform: How well do you use general packages eg plyer, datatable, caret, stats, etc..
• Python & Perl for bioinformatics.
• Data pre-processing & Dimension Reduction.
• Machine Learning & Data mining in Biomedical data: Which algorithms were chosen & Why?
• Do you require Hadoop/Big data platform?
