Details

Have you ever dined around a traditional Bohra thaal—a giant, shared plate that transforms strangers into companions?
If not, here’s your chance to be part of an intimate and unforgettable home dining experience—hosted in the warmth of our home in Bengaluru.
At The Bohra Thaal, food is only the beginning. The real magic lies in the stories exchanged, the silences shared, and the connections formed as you sit shoulder to shoulder with like-minded guests around a circular thaal. This is not just a meal—it’s a moment suspended in tradition, conversation, and togetherness.

### 🌍 About Bohra Cuisine

Bohra cuisine is a living legacy of the Dawoodi Bohra Muslim community, whose roots trace back to Yemen and have flourished across Gujarat and Maharashtra over centuries. The cuisine is a rich fusion of Middle Eastern aromas, Mughlai opulence, Gujarati simplicity, and Maharashtrian spice—each dish carrying with it a story of migration, trade, and heritage.
What makes a Bohra meal truly special is the communal dining tradition: meals are served on a large thaal (metal plate), typically shared by 4 to 6 people. This style of eating encourages slowing down, sharing generously, and engaging deeply.

### 👩🏽‍💼 From Finance to Flavours: My Journey

By profession, I’m a Chartered Accountant—having spent over a decade working with firms like Avendus and ASK. But cooking? That’s always been where my heart is.
Back in Mumbai, our home was known for its festive spreads and impromptu gatherings. When I moved to Bengaluru six months ago, I saw an opportunity—not just to bring Bohra cuisine to a new city, but to create a space for intentional dining and real connection. Thus, The Bohra Thaal was born.
