This talk by Mani will cover how Bigbasket chartered its own path in building a homegrown clickstream solution that is cost-effective, scalable and reliable. Leveraging the capabilities of Snowplow Analytics which is an open source product, Bigbasket’s clickstream solution has become the DNA that powers Bigbasket’s growth and its ability to deliver world class user experience to its customers.

Speaker(s) - Subramanian MS aka Mani, currently heads the category marketing and analytics functions at bigbasket.com – India’s largest online supermarket. Mani has 23+ years of experience in consulting and analytics and has worked with Dell, McKinsey and Infosys.

Mani studied at University of Madras, IIM-Ahmedabad and MIT. Mani is a frequent speaker in industry forums and academic forums. He has also been a part-time faculty at SIBM, Bangalore and NMIMS, Bangalore. He is a columnist and the co-author of best-selling book on Bigbasket - 'Saying No to Jugaad'. He invests, advises and mentors start-ups in the DeepTech space.

'Serving Millions of Queries Weekly on a PetaByte Scale Data Warehouse - Serverless Hive and Naga' - Hive @ Uber, over the past 2 years, has seen major improvements in service reliability, owing to 2 major architectural changes - Naga (Hive REST Proxy) and Serverless Hive execution for Hive on Spark (HoS) workloads.

Naga is a state-less gateway to asynchronous Hive query execution @ Uber.

Serverless Hive is a mode of execution that eliminates the stateful HS2 from Hive query flow to enable zero downtime maintenance, further improving service reliability.

In this talk we’ll deep dive into the design & architecture aspects of these changes and discuss their impact on Hive Service Reliability.
