11:00 AM - Welcome note

11:10 AM - Resilience engineering of microservices - Nandan Kulkarni

Resilience engineering builds mechanisms for complex systems to leverage when under stress as a way to return to a stable state. Service resiliency is a fundamental requirement for any enterprise company to ensure site up and continue handling the organic growing traffic. Resiliency is the ability of a system to gracefully handle and recover from failures. Some applications can be very resilient to certain types of failures but vulnerable to others. We need a way to understand application progress over time, areas that need attention across many products, and help prioritize tech debt. This talk will throw light on how we measure, analyze, and provide some best practices to help improve the resilience of each application for the application owners and engineering teams.

12:00 PM - Micro-caching in Nginx for High Performance - Prateek Rungta

In the vast, multi-layered subject area of web performance, server response time is an important metric. From a CMS standpoint, however, it is one of the most significant. Best practise recommends a 200ms or lower time-to-first-byte. For medium to high-traffic sites, server load is another vital statistic. In this talk we’ll look at micro-caching as a performance strategy to handle loads of 10 to 100 concurrent requests per second while still maintaining sub-200ms TTFBs.

12:45 PM - Thank you note
