Talk #1: Java and AI: Using Java for Machine Learning
Time: 10.30am to 11.30 am
This session introduces Java's role in Machine Learning and its relevance in comparison to Python and see advantages of Java for developing large-scale applications.
Key topics include:
Overview of popular Java ML libraries and frameworks, such as Deep Java Library (DJL), Weka, Deeplearning4j, and Apache Mahout.
Explanation of fundamental ML components and AI models in Java.
A demonstration of simple ML model in Java: Load → Train → Evaluate → Deploy.
We’ll end by delving into real-world examples that showcase Java’s capabilities in AI and ML, and conclude with insights into the future of Java in the AI landscape.

Talk #2: Modern fast-startup Java solutions

Slow-startup has proven to be Java's Achilles Heel for long. The Java community has periodically come up with solutions to the problem. The effects of it are more pronounced in the cloud-native scenario where reliability and high-availability are key promises. This talk will explore two modern fast-java solutions - Checkpoint Restore at Checkpoint (CRaC) and GraalVM. It will also include a demo based on a sample Spring boot application.
