Often called the “Green Lung of Bangkok,” Bang Krachao is a protected green area formed by a bend in the Chaophraya River. With its elevated walkways, quiet canals, and pockets of preserved greenery, it’s one of the best places in the city to spot wildlife, especially birds that are rarely seen elsewhere in the city.

Join us for a relaxed birdwatching walk as we explore this peaceful urban jungle together. We’ll keep an eye out for a variety of tropical birds; you never know what we might spot along the way!

Come enjoy fresh air, good company, and a different side of Bangkok. We will start the morning with coffee and will finish up with an optional lunch before heading back across the river to Bangkok.

Where: Bang Krachao, the "Green Lung of Bangkok". We will be meeting at the pier at Wat Bang Na Nok (5-minute taxi ride from Bearing Station) and taking the ferry together across to Bang Krachao.

When: 8:00 am-11:00 am (3 hours); please arrive on time (I will be at the pier around 7:45am).

What to bring: Please bring shoes that you can walk in, sunblock, a hat, sunglasses, and binoculars if you have them.

Please prepare 50 baht (cash or QR payment) for organizational fees and to help offset the cost of hosting events on Meetup.

Please note that we are only amateur birders. While we will do our very best to spot and identify as many different types of birds as we can, we cannot guarantee what we will see. However, if we are extremely lucky, we might be able to find owls, kingfishers, and more!
