Bangkok Lefty Reading Group

We like to read and discuss books from left-wing authors. We as a group are into improving the world for the neglected and oppressed. We want a more just society for all, not just for those born rich, white, and/or cis male.

At our core, we believe that a more equitable and just society is possible, one that prioritizes the needs of the many over the interests of the few. We aim to explore the intersection of class, race, gender, and other forms of oppression, and to consider how we can build coalitions and movements that challenge the status quo.

Through our readings, we hope to gain a deeper understanding of the political and economic systems that govern our lives, as well as the histories of struggles for liberation and emancipation. We recognize that the ideas we encounter may challenge our assumptions and beliefs, and we embrace this as an opportunity for growth and learning.

Above all, we believe that reading and discussing books together can be a powerful tool for collective action and social change. We look forward to engaging with each other and with the texts we select, and to building a vibrant and inclusive community committed to the principles of a just world.

Help Make a Safe Space Rule
We make this rule because there have been problems in the past with aggressive people making members uncomfortable in ways they don't deserve. We ask all members to help create a safe and supportive environment for people and groups that are currently facing systemic oppression. Members who violate any of the rules below will be asked to leave.

1. No male chauvinism. No degrading comments against women. Men, please don’t talk over women.
2. No queerphobia and transphobia.
3. No racism or racial/ethnic supremacy.
4. No support of war, colonialism, or ethnic cleansing.

พวกเราสร้างกฎเหล่านี้ขึ้นมา เนื่องจากในอดีตเคยเกิดเหตุการณ์ที่ผู้เข้าร่วมบางคนมีพฤติกรรมไม่ดี รุนแรง และก้าวร้าวใส่ผู้อื่น เราจึงอยากให้สมาชิกและ ผู้เข้าร่วมในพื้นที่นี้ทุกคน ช่วยกันสร้างพื้นที่ปลอดภัยและส่งเสริมบรรยากาศที่ปลอดภัยและเกื้อกูลให้กับสมาชิกทุกคนที่กำลังประสบพบเจอปัญหาการกดขี่ในชีวิตในประจำวันในด้านต่าง ๆ
หากมีสมาชิกหรือผู้เข้าร่วมคนใดฝ่าฝืนกฎ เราจำเป็นจะต้องขอเชิญออกจากกิจกรรมที่เรากำลังจัดอยู่
กฎกติกามีดังนี้

1. ไม่ต้อนรับบุคคลที่ยึดถือระบอบชายเป็นใหญ่, ใช้คำพูดที่ก่อให้เกิดความเสียหายต่อผู้หญิงและกลุ่มคนที่มีความหลากหลายทางเพศ
2. ห้ามพูดหรือแสดงกริยาที่แสดงความเกลียดชังและการเหยียดคนข้ามเพศและผู้มีความหลากหลายทางเพศ
3. ห้ามพูดหรือแสดงกริยาที่เหยียดเชื้อชาติ หรือการยกเชื้อชาติใดเหนือเชื้อชาติอื่น
4. ห้ามมีการสนับสนุนสงคราม การล่าอาณานิคม หรือการฆ่าล้างเผ่าพันธุ์
