About us

A COMMUNITY OF STORY LOVERS
Love a good story? So do we! We're building a vibrant community of storytellers and story-listeners in Bangkok inspired by The Moth, the renowned U.S.-based nonprofit that celebrates the art of true, personal storytelling. Check out some of their stories here!

Our goal? To create a space where people can connect, share, and listen to real-life stories—whether hilarious, heartwarming, or profound. Don't like being the center of attention? That's fine too! Our storytellers need kind, responsive and encouraging audience members to help them grow their storytelling skills!

WHAT TO EXPECT
We meet in Phrom Phong on the 3rd Thursday of every month. We warm up with some storytelling games, then get settled in for performances. We close out the night with unstructured social time :)

🔹 Storytelling Games – Casual storytelling opportunities for non-performers
🔹 Prepared Stories – Monthly themes for members that wish to prepare a story in advance
🔹 Unwind & Reflect – Stick around to connect with new friends!

Whether you're a seasoned storyteller or just love to listen, come join us! Let’s build a community where meaningful stories create lasting connections.

Love a good story? So do we.

Join us for a cozy night of live storytelling and listening, inspired by The Moth, the U.S. nonprofit fostering connection through personal storytelling.

Like them, our mission is to connect authentically and build a community centered on shared human experience. Our community spans a wide range of ages, backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives - we'd love to have you!

    How the night works:

🎲 Part One: Storytelling Games (7:30–8:30PM)
Casual, on-the-spot prompts. Low stakes, high fun. No preparation needed.
🎤 Part Two: Prepared Performances (8:30–9:30PM)
Lineup of story performances by members who prepared in advance for this month's theme.

All stories (both casual and prepared) follow The Moth's style:
🔹 True, personal and told in the first person
🔹 No longer than 5 minutes
🔹 Told from memory (no reading)
    🔹 Rooted in emotion, vulnerability & self-growth

    Just want to listen? Perfect!

We're looking for eager storytellers and story-listeners! Every storyteller needs a kind, curious, and responsive audience.

    Want to perform?

If you'd like to prepare a 5-minute story on this month's theme (see below), review The Moth's storytelling tips and send Shaf a private message on Meetup - he'll add you to the lineup and walk you through how it all works.

    DISASTERPIECE
Prepare a five-minute story about a failure so epic, it became a work of art. A magnificent misfire. A glorious flop. Throwing spaghetti at the wall and failing upward. That last-minute improvisation that was mistaken for genius, so you just went with it. Whether it’s a community rallying after a natural disaster, a seeming setback that unexpectedly changed your life for the better, or an April Fools’ prank that sparked a reconciliation — paint us your disasterpieces!

    NARROW ESCAPES
Prepare a five-minute story about cheating fate—just barely. Dodging disaster by inches, slipping through a closing door, or talking your way out of a sticky situation. Heart racing, palms sweating, a big sigh of relief. Tell us about the tight squeezes, last-minute maneuvers, and lucky breaks that left you breathless and thinking, “that was way too close.”

I GOT IT FROM MY MAMA
Prepare a five-minute story about what runs in the family. From memorized Sunday sauces to generational trauma wrapped in questionable traditions. Fashion tips and whispered warnings. Sharp tongues and sharper cheekbones. Tell tales of inherent humor, proud features, warm embraces and the advice only a matriarch can deliver. Explore our motherly ties and those before them that shape our worldview and make you, you.

    OPPOSITES ATTRACT
Prepare a five-minute story about the allure of something different. The free-spirited artist to your straight-laced accountant. The early riser and the night owl. The picky eater to the adventurous foodie. Did you, the Type A planner, go on a trip with your Type B procrastinator bestie? Have you lived with a minimalist who challenged your maximalist style? "Don't think we'll ever get our differences patched. Don't really matter 'cause we're perfectly matched" -Paula Abdul
