Urban Hike 70: Sanam Chai - Bang Khun Non
Details
Welcome Hikers!
We're heading back to one of our favorite walks along the Chao Praya River!
We'll start by be crossing the Chao Praya on the "sky park" bridge (https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/pr/1976143/the-chao-phraya-sky-park-a-new-landmark-for-bangkokians), and then continue on to the River Walk, and then pass through some of our favorite Thonburi neighborhoods on the other side.
This 8km hike will start at 8am, and take about 90 minutes.
We will leave from Sanam Chai MRT Station, Exit 5 (Rajini Pier), ending at Bang Khun Non BTS. The view across the bridge is beautiful and we'll get some nice smaller streets on the Thonburi side too!
For our new hikers: This is just a walk - not a tour. We won’t be stopping at local landmarks, but you’re welcome to leave the group and explore on your own if we walk by something you’d like to see.
For Bangkok locals: this is a great way to get out and explore different parts of the city - and meet other urban explorers!
We will be walking quickly (well, as quickly as the size of our group allows), so please be prepared for as much of an "outdoor adventure" as we can manage on the busy streets of Bangkok! We will walk for a little under 2 hours (finishing slightly before 10am), so there's no plans for a rest break, but as you can expect, we'll pass plenty of 7-11's and Family Marts if you need to stop in for an emergency drink.
If you haven't joined us yet please do! This is a great way to chat, take photos, and get to know one another. If you want to explore places more thoroughly along the way (or pick up some water, or stop for the toilet), feel free to stop your hike and explore - catching up with us later or meeting us at a later point on the map.
Check out the map to see where we'll hike! (https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1azKuDNdK7dFeOsGUfayFUgRhraBa0QY&usp=sharing)
UPDATE YOUR RSVP: As usual, we have limited our numbers for this hike. We do this to make it more manageable to navigate with all of you. Please make sure that you will actually join us before RSVP-ing for this hike. And, of course, please update your RSVP if your plans change. We often have large numbers RSVP and not everyone shows up. Hopefully this will help us make better connections when we're hiking together too!
HOW THE WAITLIST WORKS: The waitlist will automatically move you up to “attending” if enough people cancel. This is why it’s important to change your attendance to “no” if you decide not to join after responding “yes”. This allows people on the waitlist to be bumped up in the order that they joined. Thank you!
