Welcome to a new series called “Watch and Review”. We realised recently that Bangkok needs a community space for watching and chatting about movies together. So, here’s our first movie event! 🍿 🎥
For our first Watch and Review, we will be going to House Samyan Cinema to watch “Shoplifters”, a Japanese film directed by Hirokazu Koreeda. House Cinema is doing a re-release of notable Japanese films, which gives us the perfect chance to dive into some of Japan’s best cinematic offerings from recent years. Afterwards, we will head over to PRYM Brunch & Bar for a drink, where we can discuss our thoughts about the movie. Itll be a relaxed discussion focussed on the movie - there’s no prior knowledge about arts/cinema required ☺️
What is Shoplifters about? A family of petty thieves finds a little child abandoned outside their home. They take the child in and raise them, finding a warmer and more comfortable home than the child's original home. Shoplifters won the Golden Palm Award at the Cannes Film Festival and has been well-received by audiences globally.

- 19:15: meet in house cinema (we’ll post a photo of where we’re standing on the evening)
- 19:30: watch the movie
- 21:30: walk together to grab a drink (cocktail or mocktail!) at PRYM bar and chat about the movie

- The film will be in Japanese (original audio) with Thai and English subtitles.
- Film length: 2 hours 1 minute (approx).
