Third Annual Casuals’ Beer Mile

Details
Yes, it’s here! The event that literally two or three of you have all been waiting for: the Barcelona Casual Runners’ Third Annual Beer Mile!
It’s also a chance to celebrate my (John’s) birthday with two of my favourite pastimes: beer and running.
For those of you who didn’t make it to previous editions, the rules are simple. The race consists of four beers (standard 330ml can) plus 1 mile / 1.6km as follows:
Drink one beer then run 400m (repeat x4).
Official rules can be found here: https://www.beermile.com/about/rules/1
The beer has to be at least 5% abv (although non-drinkers will be permitted to use alcohol free beer e.g. Freedamm, 0.0% etc). And you’re not allowed to pour it into a glass or pierce the can or do any other funny stuff. Hmmm. And if you vomit, you have to do an extra 400m (really, read the rules).
We’ll meet behind the W Hotel on Sunday 2 August at 10:30am. We’ll do a pre-race briefing, official rule-reading by the marshals etc. Race will begin at 11am. Afterwards we’ll do the winners’ presentation. Will there be prizes? Who can tell?
What you’ll need: 4 cans of beer, running shoes, and a strong constitution.
As it’s kinda my birthday, we’ll be heading to a bar / restaurant close by afterwards (venue TBC but looking at a terrace around Barceloneta) and drinks at the bar will be on me, John (in case you haven’t had enough).
