Why Build a New Browser Engine in Rust?

Hosted By
Albert Astals C.

Details
The number of web engines has decreased dramatically and the browser industry has consolidated into a small number of vendors. While the web is built on open standards and open-source software, third parties can only participate in its development within limits. The web is more important than ever, so web engine embedders seek a path through these contradictions. Servo is an experimental web engine under the umbrella of the Linux Foundation. Using the "fearless concurrency" and memory safety of Rust, it offers the possibility of a more distributed evolution of the web platform.
