Join us on Tuesday 5th July for an exciting collaborative FREE event, featuring the team from the BIBAFOODS EU scientific research network.
Together with 6 awesome young researchers, we’ll be exploring different ways that foods can be modified to solve challenges in nutrition, food products and drug delivery.
With hands-on chemical and gastronomic experiments in a real-life laboratory, and an exclusive guided tour of the Institute of Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia (iQAC), it’s going to be a fantastic evening. Bring some science in your kitchen! In research the alginate is used to entrap bio-molecules. But in the kitchen, it can be used in a fun way. Let´s do a simple spherification experiment and prepare some seasonal fruits spheres that explode in the mouth!

Medical Principles in the Kitchen: Emulsions
We come across emulsions every day in our lives. In this experiment we look into the science behind the food items we eat that could be modified to deliver medicines/active ingredients in our body. We will be looking at emulsions, and the application and uses of emulsifiers in different industries.
