The Power of Touch
Details
Touch is our first language. From the womb to adulthood, it shapes how we feel, regulate stress, and connect with others. In this session, we’ll explore the psychology of touch, including:
- How early tactile experiences influence emotional and physiological development
- The role of touch, including self-touch, in regulating stress and anxiety
- How touch strengthens relationships and fosters connection
- Insights from populations with unique touch experiences, including infants, blind people, and people who experience touch deprivation
Drawing on psychological research, developmental studies and multi-sensory studies, we’ll examine why touch is more than a physical sensation.
Our events are free, but please do arrive a couple of minutes early so that you can grab something from the bar and support our venue.
