Are you a retired or soon to be retired Ex-pat ready to build a vibrant social life in Barcelona during your retirement years?
This group is for international Ex-pats and Local Couples (age 55+) who are retired or nearing retirement. We are creating a relaxed, supportive, and active community focused on forging genuine friendships, sharing life experiences, and exploring Barcelona and the world together. If you're looking for quality couple friends to share a spontaneous coffee, a cultural dinner, a great walk, or even more distant travel, you've found your community.
Who We Are Looking For:
You are a couple who: (no singles please, this is for couples only)
• Is 55 or over (retired, retiring soon or semi-retired) and ready to expand your social circle.
• Wants to connect with other couples from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• Are Ex-pats living in Barcelona or International Couples interested in meeting other Ex-pats and local couples.
• Are Catalan/Spanish Local couples who speak some English and are willing to share their culture while practicing language skills.
• Are willing to share ideas and help plan an occasional event to keep our calendar fresh and exciting.
Our Activities & Financial Approach:
We balance a variety of activities to ensure everyone finds something they love:
• Social & Casual: Spontaneous coffee meetups, planned group lunches, dinners, local concerts, shows, and city walks.
• Active Exploration: Local and regional travel around Barcelona, Catalunya, and beyond.
• Grand Adventures: Occasional distant travel, including International trips and cruises, planned collaboratively by interested members.
• Financials: Our activities range from free/low-cost (walks, coffee) to mid-range (dinners, regional travel) to low cost international adventures. There is no membership fee. For any shared activity (like dinner reservations or planned trips), all participating couples commit to paying their own expenses and/or equally share the costs as applicable.
How We Connect:
We are committed to building a strong foundation for friendship:
• Introductory Meet & Greets: Once we have gathered a few interested members, we will host one welcoming, casual meeting per month to ensure new couples can easily connect and share ideas.
• Consistent Activity: After our initial launch, we will maintain a monthly "Anchor Meetup" for socializing and planning, adding one to three additional activities (social, cultural, active, or travel-focused) to the calendar each month or a frequency that allows the most participation.
• Our primary language for our meetups will be English but many of our members are conversational in Castellano and a few may know Catalan.
