The art of Refactoring
by Francisco Iglesias
Senior Frontend Engineer and Podcast Co-Host at Tree Nation
When refactoring code, many questions can come to our minds. The objective of this talk is to answer some of this questions and focus on refactors that deliver real value, not just reducing tech debt. We will see how can we direct refactoring to ensure every change benefits the business, the user and the developer experience by equal. We will emphasize on how to communicate its advantages in terms of added value. Always keeping functionality intact and using it as a strategic tool for more efficient and robust software.

Leveraging CSS Paint API for Realistic Particle Animation
by Alexey Taktarov
Former Head of Engineering, founder at resume.io
CSS Paint API isn't new, yet it's still an experimental web API for extending browser’s rendering engine. Using worklets, you can define custom CSS functions for drawing backgrounds, borders, custom gradients etc., in other words, things you would not be able to do with a regular Canvas. In this talk, we’ll use CSS Paint API to recreate a Telegram-inspired spoiler animation. We will delve into the complexities related to the stateless nature of worklets, along with performance pros and cons.
