Welcome to Barely There Florida – a supportive community for all ages who enjoy the outdoors ranging from minimal swimwear, topless-optional, or nude where permitted. From skimpy to skivvies, everyone belongs here. Whether you’re testing the waters or already comfortable with fewer layers, you’ll find encouragement, respect, and plenty of fun. And, who knows, maybe some new friendships, too?!
❗ A Fresh Start
As of September 2025, this Meetup group was taken over and saved from deletion after a long quiet stretch. The ball is rolling again! We’ve rebranded, re-energized, and set sights on becoming Florida’s most active, statewide community of Minimalists-to-Naturists.
But we can’t do it alone — this will only succeed with your participation and support (see “Help Wanted” below!). 🌴

- Beach Days & Sunsets – relaxed socials at Florida’s best beaches
- Springs & Rivers – kayaking, tubing, and paddle adventures
- Outdoor Fitness – light hikes, beach volleyball, yoga, etc.
- Social Gatherings – picnics, meet-ups, and themed events
- Resorts & Getaways – trips to clothing-optional resorts and retreats

🩱 Attire & Guidelines
- Minimal swimwear is the baseline (microkinis, thongs, etc.).
- Topless-optional and/or Nude where permitted by law/venue.
- We follow local rules and organizer guidance at all times.
🤝 Culture & Community
- Consent & respect are non-negotiable.
- No photos without explicit consent from everyone in frame.
- No body shaming, no pressure, no harassment.
- This is a social and recreational group — non-sexual in nature.
- All ages welcome unless otherwise noted for specific events.
💬 New or Nervous?
Totally normal! Most of us had those same first-time jitters. The great part is you won’t stand out — everyone follows the same dress code for the event, which makes it so much easier to relax. Think of it like jumping into the pool together: once you’re in, you’ll wonder why you waited so long!
🙌 Help Wanted
As a state-wide Meetup group, this requires help to be successful...which is where we need YOU!
Looking for Regional Organizers AND Hosts in:
- North Florida (Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Panhandle)
- Central Florida (Orlando, Tampa Bay, Space/Treasure Coast)
- Southwest Florida (Naples, Fort Myers, Sarasota)
- Southeast Florida (Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach)
The differences:
- Regional Organizers → Take the lead in your area. Help represent your area, grow the group, guide and support local hosts, attend (and host your own) Meetups.
- Hosts → Plan and Host Meetups. Big or small! Easy!
With your help, imagine the possibilities of what WE can grow this into and all the new friendships to be had!
