What is fascism? Historian Robert O. Paxton wrote what has been described as the most authoritative work on the subject in 2004. 14 years later, philosopher Jason Stanley approached the same topic with a focus on modern propaganda and authoritarian creep in the United States and elsewhere.

Both are about 200 pages each, excluding bibliographies and other material, so we will be reading both (one at each meeting) and comparing the two works, what drives radicalization, and the differences between historical and present-day fascism. You are welcome at either meeting even if you cannot make both.
