Two-and-a-half castles hike over Schenkenberg

Would you believe... there are still castles in the greater Basel area that we haven't visited yet? Indeed, two and a half of them, all lined up and waiting for us to discover them this Saturday, just north of Aarau.
We'll meet at the usual spot (between the green ticket machines by the tram bays in front of SBB) and depart at 11:05 am sharp for track 4 where we'll catch the 11:11 train (IR36 direction Zurich), change at Frick to the 11:48 bus (B135 direction Aarau Bahnhof) for a short ride where we'll get off at Staffelegg Passhohe at 12:08.
From there we hike east up the Chrinneflue for a small ridge hike then some forest, after which we'll climb up to the isolated hill of Schenkenberg for our first (same-named) castle. From there we hike down past Stalten to visit the ruins of Ruchenstein (our half castle), and then on to Kasteln right next door, which I understand is now a school. From there we head througg the vinyards towards Schinznach to have drinks at Gasthof Bären.
Busses leave at Schinznach Dorf, Oberdorf at :10 and :40 towards Brugg.
The hike is 11.43 km with 410m of climbs. Some bit of dexterity might be required on the ridge, so wear good footwear, and as always bring suncreen and hydration. See you Saturday!
