Cross platform with React Native & Introducing Area51

Details
Tonight we’ll have two presentations, followed by the usual drinks, snacks and hanging out.
1st up:
Cross platform development with React Native
with Julian Hundeloh
React has been a major success on web and with React Native the technology expanded to mobile devices. Initially, it was designed to simplify development of native iOS and Android applications using the same JavaScript code base and a handful of native component APIs. Meanwhile the eco system grew substantially and it’s possible to use React Native for even more platforms such as Universal Windows Platform (UWP), QML and surprisingly for the browser again. In this meet up we will focus on the latter and see how we can develop an application using React Native with the same look and feel for iOS, Android and web with minimal effort and minimal knowledge about native development.

Julian Hundeloh
After starting privately with simple web development in 2000, Julian began his professional career at SAP in 2008 where he worked as a consultant for the following 9 years with a wide range of technologies for various well known customers. Since 2017 he is working as a freelancer in Basel and focuses on mobile application development both for SAP and non-SAP use cases. In his spare time he works on approvals.cloud (https://approvals.cloud/) which uses the same stack demonstrated in this meet up.

2nd up:
Enable non-developers to edit your React app with React Area51
with Topher Zimmermann
Area51 allows mysterious alien content to take control of your React app. Topher will present a new npm package being developed at Magnolia. It was created to re-empower non-developers to create and edit React-based websites and other digital experiences. Area51 connects the modern component-architecture of React, with the component concept of CMS page editors. It does not include an editing tool itself, but provides the infrastructure an editing UI can plug into.
