### **Short Course: Understanding Percentages in Everyday Life**

**Format:** Online, 3 sessions × 2 hours each. Tuesdays 10am - 12noon.

**Target audience:** Individuals who want to learn/improve their confidence with percentages for real-life use. No prior knowlede is required.

**Expected Learning Outcome:**
By the end of this short course, you will be able to:

* **Calculate a percentage of any number** confidently (e.g., 20% of £45).
* **Work out discounts and sale prices** when shopping.
* **Increase or decrease numbers by a percentage**, such as price changes or raises.
* **Calculate tips, taxes, and simple interest** in everyday financial situations.
* **Interpret percentages in charts, tables, and bills**, helping you make informed decisions.
* **Solve real-life problems using percentages**, both at home and at work.
* **Feel more confident using numbers** in day-to-day situations.

* Finding a percentage of a number (e.g., 20% of £50)
* Increasing and decreasing numbers by a percentage
* Real-life applications: E.g. calculating discounts, price increases and tips

* Understanding percentages in finance: interest rates, taxes, and savings
* Comparing percentages and interpreting data in charts and graphs
* Problem-solving using percentages in real-life scenarios
