What's Humanism? Can we teach it to school children?
Details
Humanists UK trains speakers to talk about Humanism in schools. Often Humanism is described by what we don't believe in. We aim to show to show that it is positive, life-affirming, and optimistic.
Alan Montgomery's been a school speaker for many years. He'll show how to present humanism's key ideas in 15 minutes. He'll also introduce the Understanding Humanism website with its teaching resources.

Alan became a Humanist in November 1963. He is founding chair of Reading Humanists, former chair of Farnham Humanists, and serves on the Bracknell Forest SACRE.
Alan likes Basingstoke. In 1989 he founded Integral Solutions Ltd. to sell AI technology. Software that ISL wrote in its Basing View office 25 years ago is still used around the world. When chair of Basingstoke Young Enterprise for 10 years, Alan visited schools weekly, helping Y10 pupils create companies, develop products, and sell via trade-fairs in The Malls.
