Hike Balsthal to Weissenstein
Details
I moved the start of the hike. So we meet in Basel SBB, Track 15 at 07:20 to Liestal, then T19 at 07:35 to Waldenburg and the B94 at 08:03 to Balsthal. Maybe even the S22 to Thalbrücke at 08:34.
From around 500 meters, we climb to 1250 meters, mostly through a forest. The next 10 km are without larger climbs till we reach Oberbalmberg at 1080, where the next climb to 1400 gets us up to Röti.
From there it is a short 2 km downhill to Weissenstein at 1280.
I have never done this hike, I think there are two restaurants on the way.
From Weissenstein, we take the Gondola to Oberdorf SO and from there the train back to Basel.
I do struggle a bit with the climbs, just be aware that I might need some extra time.
According to Schweiz Mobil, we climb 1'350, go down 600, total 21 km, about seven hours.
