Discover SF -- Chinese New Year Parade with Million Crowd
Intersection of Geary & Kearny Street, 9 Kearny Street & 12 Kearny Street,, San Francisco, CA, USWhatsApp:
https://chat.whatsapp.com/K4fYpmqwtML6gHLB1mm4QbThe Chinese New Year parade is a phenomenal cultural event in SF, the largest celebration of Chinese New Year outside Asia. It has a history of over 170 years, first started in 1851. It is named one of the top ten parades in the world by the International Festivals & Events Association and recognized by USA Todayβs 10 Best Cultural Festivals. By KRON4, it drew 1 million visitors to SF last year.
This year's parade would be even more spectacular, led by the popular Bay Area Olympian gold Medalist -- Eileen Gu, fresh with another 3 medals (1 gold, 2 silver) from the winter Olympic 2026.
So come to explore and experience another local definitional cultural event with us -- the Chinese new year parade. This will also be the first event of our new series -- Discover SF, covering prominent cultural events and places in SF.To help our event attendees to know each other better, we are also going to try out some new formats of social interaction during the event. We're building a rotating hosts model for this series β interested in hosting a future Discover SF event? Or sharing your favorite places / activities with others? Come talk to us.
The parade would draw huge crowd, so we plan to get there earlier, secure our curbside position, may have group dinner during the event, and exit early to avoid the traffic after event. Bring layered clothes, shoes comfortable to walk in, hand torch would also come in handy. Come experience it with fellow explorers rather than alone in the crowd.
